The Studio for Southern California History invites
you to help create a friendship-style quilt for its
upcoming exhibition: Los Angeles Women: A
Record of Experience
Anyone can participate by creating one (or more)
quilt block. The block must be 12 square inches,
include a theme fabric that will be provided by the Studio,
and machine washable. Other than these requirements,
you have complete creative freedom. We would love to
see blocks that memorialize and celebrate friends and
loved ones, heroines, role models, and historical figures.
This quilt is dedicated to local women who have made a
positive influence in the lives of others.
Write, call, or email the Studio to receive your
quilt block packet, which will include an instruction
sheet and a piece of theme fabric. Be sure to provide
us with an address to send your packet to. Or, pickup
your packet at the Studio and visit our current exhibit,
Work in Southern California: A Retrospective.
Contact Information:
Email: participate@socalstudio.org
Call: 213-229-8890
Mail: P.O. Box 8665, Los Angeles, CA 90012
Visit: 525 Alpine Street, Suite 103, Los Angeles, CA 90012
To be included, completed blocks must be received
by the Studio by 6 p.m. on December 11, 2006.
The quilt will be on display from January 13 to
May 31, 2007. All participants will receive posted
recognition.
Feel free to pass the word! We want to include as
many entries and voices as possible.

Re: Call for Entries: A quilt dedicated to Los Angeles Women
Wed, January 10, 2007 - 9:10 PMThanks for all of the interest in this quilt project. We ended up receiving 20 entries, all of which have been sewn up and on display starting this Saturday. For those of you who didn't quite make the deadline, there is an interactive space in the exhibit where new additions to the quilt can be added and left for display. For more info on the exhibit see my event post (Los Angeles Women: Exhibit Opening).
